The Kingsport Historical Society and Museum
This two-story Gregorian mansion houses a sizable exhibit of local history and lore with a focus on maritime artifacts. The second floor also has a respectable library of books about the area, old photographs and a newspaper archive.
Open Noon to 5 Monday through Saturday. Museum and library admission is free.
The museum is curated by Aaron Hart, a kind elderly gentleman who has suffered a series of recent strokes, and whose wits are wearing thin.
The attic houses documents and items that have yet to be cataloged or displayed. Only members of the Kingsport Historical Society will be allowed access to the attic.
Yearly membership requires a $15 fee.
